Frank Candor — Privacy Policy

Frank Candor ("Frank", "we", "us", "our") is operated by Unseen Co. This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Frank via WhatsApp or our website at meetfrankcandor.com.

By using Frank, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, stop using the service and send "delete my data" to have your information removed.

1. What we collect

Information you provide directly

Phone number — from WhatsApp, used to deliver the service and identify your account.
Messages — text messages, voice notes, and media you send to Frank.
Documents — performance reviews, CVs, offer letters, job descriptions, or other files you share for analysis. These are processed and stored as text extracts.
Signup form data — if you use our website form: name, role, career situation, career question, and optionally your LinkedIn profile URL.
Feedback — ratings and written feedback you provide when prompted.

Information Frank remembers

Frank maintains context between your conversations so you don't have to repeat yourself. This memory is derived from what you tell Frank and includes:

Career context — your role, industry, and the situations you're navigating, so Frank's advice stays relevant.
Commitments you make — the actions and decisions you commit to during conversations, so Frank can follow up on them.
Conversation history — summarised context from previous sessions.
General timing preferences — an approximate local timezone estimated from your phone number, so any messages Frank sends land at reasonable local hours.

Frank may also categorise your situation at a high level (e.g. whether you're exploring a change, navigating a transition, or developing in your current role) to tailor any follow-up messages. This categorisation is used solely to improve the relevance of our communication with you. It is not shared with employers, recruiters, or third parties, and it does not affect your pricing, feature access, or any legal right.

Information from third parties

LinkedIn profile data — if you provide your LinkedIn URL during signup, we fetch publicly available profile information (job history, education, skills) to give Frank context about your background. This is optional.
WhatsApp profile name — provided by WhatsApp when you message us, used to identify you if no name is on file.

Payment information

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, bank details, or billing address. We store only a Stripe customer identifier to manage your subscription.

2. How we use your information

Provide personalised career advice through Frank.
Maintain conversation context and career history across sessions.
Generate documents you request (session summaries, CV drafts, progress reports).
Send you periodic follow-up messages and weekly summaries (if you opt in).
Improve the quality and accuracy of Frank's responses.
Monitor service health and prevent abuse.
Respond to your support requests.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share individual data with employers, recruiters, or any other party.

3. Categories of recipients

To deliver the service, your data is shared with the following categories of third parties, each operating under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements with us:

We use contractual agreements with these providers to ensure your messages and personal data are not used to train third-party AI models, and that audio sent for transcription is deleted after processing.

4. Proactive messages

Frank may send you messages you did not initiate:

Follow-up messages — if you have not messaged in 2-14 days, Frank may check in. These are sent during reasonable local hours (estimated from your country code).
Weekly summaries — a Sunday evening recap of your goals and progress. You must explicitly opt in to receive these. You can stop them at any time.
NPS surveys — occasional one-question satisfaction surveys.

To stop all proactive messages, send "stop texting" or similar to Frank. This immediately and permanently opts you out of all outbound messages while keeping your account and data intact.

5. Automated decision-making

Frank uses AI to make the following automated assessments about you:

Career stage classification — categorises your situation to personalise follow-up messages. This does not affect your access to features or pricing.
Goal tracking — automatically extracts goals from conversations and tracks their status. Goals with no activity for 30-45 days are marked as inactive.
Career profile extraction — AI summarises your career details from conversations. You can review what is stored by sending "my data".

No automated decisions are made that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Frank does not make hiring decisions, credit assessments, or any determination that affects your legal rights.

6. Data storage and security

Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with row-level security enforced on all tables.
All API communications use TLS encryption in transit.
Database access requires service-role authentication. No public read access to any table.
Voice notes are transcribed and the audio is not stored. Only the text transcript is retained.
Documents you send are stored as text extracts, not in their original format.

7. Your rights

Access — send my data to Frank on WhatsApp to receive everything we store about you: profile, messages, goals, feedback.
Deletion — send delete my data to permanently erase all your data. This is irreversible. Your messages, profile, goals, feedback, and account are removed.
Conversation reset — send #reset# to clear your conversation history and profile while keeping your account.
Opt out of follow-ups — send "stop texting" to halt all proactive messages from Frank.
Data portability — the my data command provides your data in a readable format.
Rectification — to correct inaccurate profile data, tell Frank directly (e.g., "My title is actually VP, not Director") and it will be updated at the next session.

8. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as you use the service.
If you request deletion, data is permanently removed within 24 hours from our database. Deletion from third-party service providers follows their respective retention policies.
Inactive accounts with no messages for 12 months may be automatically deleted.
Pre-signup form data (name, role, career question submitted via our website) is retained separately and is not deleted by the "delete my data" command. Contact us to request its removal.

9. International data transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using Frank, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps, consistent with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong, to ensure that overseas recipients of your personal data handle it in a manner consistent with the Data Protection Principles, including through contractual agreements with each provider.

10. Children

Frank is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will delete their data.

11. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal data or breached the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), please contact us first at info@seetheunseen.cc. We will acknowledge your complaint within a reasonable period and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong (PCPD) at www.pcpd.org.hk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via WhatsApp. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
